Deep Freeze by Dean Schreck

Star Travelers…
in deep freeze.
Cosmic-leap frogs
in cryogenic slumber:
Hermetically sealed
envelopes
addressed to a star
that seems
a universe removed.
Going under,
giving way
as the lay of the land
to omnivorous fog.
Drifting off
on crystalline ice ships—
Higher Seas Cryonauts
hold heroic
one frame
of a frozen dream
pressed and burning
to one mind’s eye.
And all encased
like butterflies
in Chrysalis:
Galactic Pioneers,
In icy tubes of glass…
settle on down
into deeper freeze.
Monarchs
of Inconceivable
Space:
Suspended in Time
And Ice
on Interstellar-Pods
Of Seed!
