She-Hulk: Jen of Hearts by Eric S Brown

Jen of Hearts is the second collected trade paperback from Rainbow Rowell’s current run on She-Hulk. It picks up with issues 6 through 10 of the series, continuing to deal with the mystery of how Jack of Hearts has returned to life as a powerless human, She-Hulk’s new job, and the romance brewing between Jennifer and Jack.

I won’t share any spoilers here, but I will say that Jen of Hearts is one of the most entertaining, fun, and moving comic love stories you’ll ever read. It’s got all the drama of a Legion of Superheroes‘ romance, the wackiness of a Deadpool title, but much more depth than either of those. The bond that forms between Jennifer and Jack is not only believable but intense and emotional. It’s the sort of love story that almost all of us human beings can relate to.

Jen of Hearts does indeed have some action, it is a superhero book after all, but that’s not where it is focused and that’s okay. The art is as fantastic as the writing and leaps off the page at times. If you’re a She-Hulk fan, I simply can’t recommend the Jack of Hearts storyline enough. It’s nothing short of a must-read.
