Snow Monster from Uranus Part 15 by Celine Mariotti

The blizzard began. Mrs. Carillo sat in her living room and did some crocheting. She was making a sweater for Louie. Her daughter Mary was sitting in her access chair writing her book. It was going to be a speculative-type story, and she wanted it to be gripping and compelling. A book that readers couldn’t put down.  The bingphone rang, and it was Louie calling from the hospital. He would be coming home tomorrow but now with this blizzard he might have to stay another day or two. The weathermen were forecasting 15-17 inches of snow across the Northeast, and everyone was wondering where this huge blizzard was coming from. Margaret looked out the window, and it made her think of the night Louie went out in the snowstorm and encountered that awful Jezi.

“Margaret, are you watching it snow?” asked Louie.

“Well, I see it sitting here on the sofa. It reminds me of the night you went out in that snowstorm and met up with that Snow Monster. You don’t suppose he sent this storm our way?”

“I wouldn’t put it past him. He has all kinds of powers. Who knows what he can do to all of us. The nurse told me because of the storm, instead of going home tomorrow, Tuesday, I’ll go home Friday. I can’t wait to sleep in our own bed. And eat your lasagna. And watch Murder She Wrote”.

“Yes, I’ll look forward to us being together. We’re lonely without you. Right, Mary?”

“Yeah, I can’t wait for Dad to be home with us. I miss all the stories he tells.”

“See, we both miss you,” said Margaret.

“I miss both of you. Peter said he’s coming to see me later. Hope he can make it in this storm.”

“He’ll probably come with his police officers,” said Mary.

“Yeah, Louie. Don’t worry. Peter will get there.”

“Okay. Talk to you soon.”

Margaret hung up and returned to her crocheting. Mary returned to writing her story. Margaret turned on the TV, and they watched Murder She Wrote. She couldn’t wait for Louie to be there watching it with them and doing his puzzles.

President Konstantin Antonopoulous was meeting with the FBI director Franklin MacDonald. They were discussing the Snow Monster from Uranus. Something had to be done to capture this alien who seemed so elusive, and so powerful and so tricky, too. Somehow, they would get him.

“So, what is the FBI doing to apprehend and capture this alien from Uranus?”

“We are using all our weapons, our resources, everything we can possibly do to get this Snow Monster,” said Director MacDonald, very worn out from the whole ordeal. He was up late at night working on plans for how to capture this alien who was doing a lot of damage.

“I know he’s beyond our reach and you’re using all your capabilities that the FBI has. I know the Director of NASA is helping you, too,” said President Antonopoulos.

“Yes, he’s definitely helping us. I’m meeting with Matthew today. We’re going to discuss some of the weapons the astronauts use and see if attachments can be put on them that will totally obliterate this alien. I’ll let you know what we come up with.”

“Sounds good, Franklin.”

The snow kept falling. It had been snowing for five hours now, and the Northeast was covered with snow—six and half inches already. There was a lot more to come. Jezi sat with his tablet in his hand making arrangements to steal chemicals from a company in upstate New York. He’d send his alien friends. His plan was in action…
