Your Neighbor May Be a Space Alien If… by John H. Dromey

the family car
a Rocket 88 Olds
has reentry burns

car’s glove compartment’s
filled with speeding tickets from
Jupiter and Mars

weird bumper stickers
up front Se habla Klingon
rear Eat my Stardust

those exotic pets
sometimes seen in their backyard
they claim are offspring

with stars in their eyes
bright constellation tattoos
cover their bodies

too much leisure time
they celebrate holidays
you’ve never heard of

absentee ballots
they cast into cyberspace
at odd times of year

meet their relatives
an extended family
most of them are clones

their privacy fence
aviation warning lights
and a Keep Out sign

up to their old tricks
every Halloween they claim
they don’t wear costumes

their solar panels
split design makes allowance
for an extra sun

their vacation home
is really out of this world
in more ways than one

they don’t tan or burn
after a day at the beach
they glow in the dark

she he it or they
consume umpteen meals a day
never brush their fangs
