Danger Will Robinson by Phil Temples

The alien space craft reconnoitered the planet Earth for months in preparation for a surprise invasion against the humans. It appeared as though the Earthlings lacked any united defenses with which to repel extraterrestrial attackers. However, upon entering orbit the ship was abruptly destroyed when it was struck by a baseball-sized fragment of an old Soviet satellite traveling at 23,000 miles per hour. The alien ship’s automated MAYDAY broadcast warnings to the other nearby warships of its demise and to steer clear of the planet on account of a secret, hitherto unknown planetary defense.
