Young Justice by Rain Hall-Brown

Young Justice

The kids who make up the Young Justice team are: Impulse (also called Kid Flash), Superboy, Robin, Jinny Hex, Wonder Girl, and Teen Lantern.  Jinny Hex, the great, great granddaughter of Jonah Hex, and Teen Lantern are new to the team and haven’t know each other for a long time like the others have.

The Earth is attacked by the houses of Gemworld which brings Young Justice together again.   These bad guys want to fight Superman but he’s not around, so Young Justice has to stop them.  Impulse comes running in during the middle of the battle and calls out, “Call anyone! Superman! The Justice League! Call Harry Potter!”    He is a very funny character, and being a Harry Potter fan,  I loved that.  When the others ask him where he came from, Impulse says, “I was headed to Canada to join Alpha. . .”   which is another joke about Marvel’s Alpha Flight.  That made me smile too.  He and Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld are my favorite characters in the book. He’s funny and she’s awesome, tough, and pretty.

My least favorite part of the book is that Young Justice and Amethyst save Gemworld then its twelve houses betray them.  They banish Amethyst from Gemworld and send Young Justice away with her, and the book ends without even showing where they were all sent to.
